Helping Children in Need Prosper
Not all of us get the same start in life. This is the unfortunate reality we live in. In South Africa, in particular, there are a large number of children who face an array of struggles that threaten to derail their development into healthy, balanced adults with a fair chance at a thriving future. The good news is that child rehabilitation provides the necessary intervention that can help put these children back on course for future success.
Why is there such a large number of children in need of intervention?
South Africa has a deep-rooted history of inequality, which leads to several factors that can hinder the development of children. Poverty is a major factor in this, as poverty can lead to malnutrition, a lack of access to education, and a higher exposure to crime and violence – all which can contribute to the need for child rehabilitation. This can further be complicated by health and disability issues that add additional challenges and requirements.
As is evident by the array of factors that can cause development obstacles, child rehabilitation in itself is a very broad term that can refer to a number of different interventions. These can be mental or physical in nature – often both – and are typically focussed on supporting childhood development.
Abraham Kriel Bambanani offers comprehensive child rehabilitation services
Over the years, we have established numerous residential homes and community programmes across Johannesburg, caring for the most vulnerable children and youth in the communities we serve. These initiatives include providing a safe haven for children, shelter, food and clothing, counselling and access to education and development programmes.
We also work to support the government in their endeavours to provide a future for the youth of South Africa. Traumatised, abandoned, neglected, and orphaned children are committed into the care of Abraham Kriel Bambanani by the Children’s Court.
Our aim is to help reunify these children with their parents or family where possible, or to reintegrate them into the broader community. Ultimately, we want to develop and empower children so that they can realise their potential and become contributing members of society.
