Celebrating our children’s brilliance

This time of the year Abraham Kriel Bambanani reflects and celebrates! We celebrate our children’s achievements both inside and outside of the organisation.

The Recognition Day Event is the highlight of the year for many of our beneficiaries.  We award outstanding performance and achievements with certificates and trophies, but it is the personalised recognition for personal development, resilience, and bravery that makes the event so special.

Maria Kloppers Campus

“Recognition Day was an intimate affair this year. Our house mothers wrote letters to their children, some personalised others motivational but certainly all filled with love. A slide show reminded us of the highlights of the year and all the blessings we received. We awarded certificates to each child recognising what they are most loved for.  The Sports Woman of the Year, Sports Man of the Year and Maria Kloppers Ambassador received a special gift for their achievements and contributions” – Pheli Baduza, Manager: Maria Kloppers Campus.

Johanna Malan ECDC

The annual Johanna Malan Early Childhood Development Centre’s (JMECDC) graduation and concert event is always such a reflective and joyous occasion. The children sing, dance and perform their little hearts out.

“Eighteen (18) Grade Rs graduated this year, and we are so grateful for this achievement.  We are further grateful to the passionate staff who ensure that each child receives the time and attention necessary for their development. The number of children enrolled at Johanna Malan increased over the last year from 50 to 71. What a blessing to see full classrooms again and affording more children the opportunity to learn!” – Betsie Momsen, Principal: JMECDC.

Langlaagte Campus

“This year our Recognition Day was celebrated with an informal Christmas setting party unlike previous years, where we had a formal sit-down event.  A special focus was placed on each girl’s individuality, and they were recognised for personal development and growth. We believe that by doing this, our girls are positively impacted, and this helps them to honour who they truly are and strive to be better versions of themselves” – Darlene Cigarmony, Assistant Manager: Langlaagte Campus.

We may have a future SA Sports Award recipient in our care!

Nkosana (not his real name) is a sports enthusiast of note. By the age of eight, he was already a Judo champion and had hopes of joining the South African Olympic team. He has always been part of his school’s cricket and rugby first teams. He was further elected for the Gauteng North Cricket team and Central West Rugby team – a huge achievement for him!

The school also awarded Nkosana with a gold certificate for hockey and rugby and a silver certificate for cricket.

“I know I have a talent for sports and I love and enjoy every moment, but I am grateful for the opportunity I have to participate in sports.  Thanks to Abraham Kriel Bambanani, my housemother and the caring donors I can live my dream – to be a sports star!!!” – Nkosana.

We’re excited to see what he will achieve next year.

“Erkenningsdag was vanjaar ’n intieme affêre.

– Nkosana.
